my logic of thinking was:

if the handle was coming down by itself then the poster would have stated his problem was the faucet was turning off by itself.
i’m not saying you’re wrong but it would be unusual for a ten year old moen stem to all of a sudden loosen.usually after time they become more difficult to open.
