Reel mowers are still better for fine cuts and I believe that’s all the golf groundskeepers use to use on the putting greens. Perhaps they can recommend someone that does their sharpening and tuning?
Sharpening and adjusting the mower isn’t hard, but it is very precise work and it can take a long time to learn it. You can do it yourself, but it might take a month or two before the mower works right again. My big test was to be able sheer a single sheet of newspaper absolutely cleanly from edge to edge. It can be done but it might be a lost art by now?
With luck you’ll find that 70 year old “Al” does it in his garage down on Third Street for $20.
