Thank you, Dan, for your quick response. The defrost heater, when unplugged at both ends, has a reading of 30 Ohm, so I assume it is working. I also saw the unit went into defrost mode (with actual heat)–presumably when it happend to be in the defrost cycle.
The puzzle I have is the inputs to the evap fan motor. The blue wire, when unplugged from the motor, reads 120 V (with respect ground), and the white (nutral) is 0V, unplugged. However, when you plug them on to the evap fan, the white wire now reads 120V (sometimes 85V) to the ground, the blue still reads 120V. The fan won’t run. However, when I unplug the white wire and connect the ground wire to the fan (at the connector for the white wire), the fan runs.

The electric circuit on the back of the frig seems to show that the evap fan is separated from the defrost circuit. My situation seems similar to an old posting on this forum:
