Pull the carpet up by hand, then get a roofers shovel or a regular lino removing tool. Looks like a hoe with the blade bent forward. This long handled tool will really get the lino up fast. Your home centers will carry this.

You just need something that you can get your back into while standing up and one that scrapes. Either will work for you.
