Relax Doug. Eutrophication is the term you’re looking for. But nobodys talking about dumping washwater into a waterbody. Hes talking about allowing it to leach into the soil. Since this effluent is not high in nitrogen , but high in phosphates, I’m sure this is your concern.
And knowing what happens to phosphate in the soil, which do you think is better: pump it into the municipal system, so it further dilutes what the treatment plant has to manage, AND requires them to treat the phosphate (cost) before THEY dump it into the river, or let it leach into the backyard?
