an acrylic tub can be a one man install. cast iron will weigh 3-400 pounds and requires several strong men to install.

acrylic requires installing a bed for thetub to rest on to prevent deflection of the bottom.

cast iron finish will chip if heavy object dropped on the surface.

acrylic finish is easy to scratch.

acrylic will usually cost less that cast iron for the standard tubs.

if you are looking for jacuzi or garden tub, you will have to go with acrylic
