How can I fix a small hole in drywall without taking the piece down and installing a new piece?? Can I fix it myself?? I have drywall spackel, mesh and a small piece of metal and also some putty knives. Do you have a fast and easy way to fix the hole????

Janie, can you tell us what the size of the hole is? “Small” can mean a lot of things. Yes, you can probably fix it but we need to suggest a plan that is appropriate to the size of the hole.

If the hole is “small” as in smaller than your fist the best option is to first get a drywall saw and square th ehole off keeping it as small as possible. then get a piece of drywall four to five times bigger than the hole. Flip the drywall over and score the back of it to look like a Tic Tac To board so that the middle square is the same size as your hole. Then tear the drywall part away from everywhere but the middle piece and leave the paper face on it. Slide the piece that you have into your hole in use drywall mud or spackling to smooth out and make the edges of the paper flat let dry and paint
