My kitchen cabinets are standard 24″ Deep. The space for the fridge is also 24″, no deeper recess here. How much can the fridge exceed the cabinet depth and not look ducky? A Std 25.6 CU FT is 33.5″ Deep. This would have the fridge stick out almost 12″. 22 Cu Ft is 28.5″ so even this stands proud 4.5″.

The best plan in my opinion is to build out the rest of the wall 4″, or recess the fridge 4″. It depends upon which is easiest.

The fridge always looks “ducky”, that’s because refrigerator makers haven’t been wise in my opinion, but 24″ x 30″ isn’t very big when you consider insulation and shelves, etc. The only thing they could do was make the fridge “ducky” to make it bigger for the same 30″ wide opening the only option was deeper.
